Ninebot has recently released a new version of the Ninebot Max/G30 ESC.
This new version is no longer based on the STM32 chip and therefore cannot be STLinked normally.
The new version of the controller features screw terminals instead of bullet connectors which should fix the issue where the connectors melt together.
ScooterHacking Utility now has the ability to tell which MCU your vehicle is based on, and therefore which version of ESC it has.
Make sure you have SHUtility v2.1 or above or you won’t have this option.
The hardware details menu in ScooterHacking Utility. You will need v2.1 or above to see this info.
You will see one of two chip types under “DRV”:
Read more on the wiki article on the differences between Gen 1 and Gen 2 to figure out what this means for you.
To tell if you have the new ESC, remove the cover and check if the ESC is black or gray.
Many have also reported that the charging port cover was also changed.
See below to check which version you have.
Gen 1:
A Gen 1 ESC, featuring bullet connectors and silver housing. This one is inside a G30LP.
Gen 2:
A Gen 2 ESC featuring screw terminals and black plastic housing.
