Previous Error Code: Okai Error Code 07E - Next Error Code: Okai Error Code 09E

Cause

Error code 08E indicates that the motor has reached an excessively high temperature (over 115°C). This could be caused by:

  • Overuse: Continuous use of the scooter, especially at high speeds or under heavy loads, can overheat the motor.
  • Short circuit: A short circuit in the motor windings or hall sensor wiring can cause excessive heat generation.
  • Faulty cooling system: If the motor's cooling system (fan, heat sink) is not working properly, the motor can overheat.
  • Malfunctioning ECU: The ECU's temperature sensing circuit might be malfunctioning, leading to an inaccurate temperature reading.

Fix

  • Stop riding: Allow the motor to cool down before continuing to use the scooter.
  • Check for short circuits: Inspect the motor wiring and hall sensors for any short circuits or damaged wires.
  • Clean cooling system: Make sure the cooling system (fan and heat sink) is clean and functioning correctly.
  • Replace motor: If the motor is damaged, overheating is likely due to a faulty motor. The motor may need to be replaced.
  • Replace ECU: If the problem is related to the ECU's temperature sensing circuit, the ECU might need to be replaced.
